How to Format a USB Flash Drive

How to Format a USB Flash Drive :

It is always good that from time to time you do formate for some of USB drives especially if they start to bug or do not reading files good anymore like before. Formating process make ready any drive (USB Flash Drive, Floppy, HD, External HD) for initial use and also clean (delete) all data from your drive (including the viruses which they maybe contain and that you even do not know about them). Nowadays is very simple to format any drive and you do not need to be an expert for knowing how its work. This process is very well done in all Windows systems especially at the new ones (Windows XP, Windows 7, Windows 8...) and if you are beginner you just need to follow the next steps which I describe above this text :

Before Start : Connect your USB Flash Drive to the computer and wait for it to load... When loading is finish close pop-up window which will appear (or enter in disc and copy all important data that you have from your Flash to Hard Disc before we start).

Step 1 : Enter in "My Computer". When you locate your USB Flash Drive do right-click on it and then from menu chose Format...

(click on photo to make it large)

Step 2 : From the window that appears, you can set all the Formatting data which you need for this process :

-Capacity show you how much memory have your USB Flash .

-File System gives option to chose formating system that you prefer the most. For example Fat32 (Default) is the best choice if you have lot of small files with different extensions and you wont to copy that date in different operating systems like Windows, Linux, MAC... NTFS is best for typical video-music files and multimedia documents which you can moving from one to another or the same Windows system (in this case I will chose Fat32 (Default) because it is the most used one).

-Allocate Unit Size is the block size on your Flash or other store drives. If you have lots of small files, then it’s a good idea to keep the allocation size small so your drive space won’t be wasted. If you have lots of large files keeping it higher will increase the system performance by having less blocks to seek (most of the people use Default Allocation Size so if you are just a basic user than this will be the best option for you).

-Volume Label is the name of your Flash Drive which you can change and write name that you like.

-Quick Format. Depending on whether you want basic formatting or detailed one you will check or un-check this option (if quick format did not help you than you can tray with normal longer formating)

Step 3 : When you set formating options which you prefer just do left-click on Start button and then again left-click on OK when pop up warning appear to confirm. Wait till process is finish.

DONE ! Your USB Flash is now completely formated, ready for use and if everything is right you will have empty memory which will work normally or even better then last time. This process is possible to make on the same way for Floppy Disk, Hard Drives and Memory Cards.

Extract all files from folders

How to extract all files from folders (Windows 7) :

Sometimes the solution for different PC problems are actually very simple and can be found just in front of us but we are not able to notice them. That situation I had when I try to extract some of many files from tons of my PC folders. Like every beginner I start to do typical cut-paste work for every single folder and then at the end I realize that it is necessary to find some more practical solution which will not take so much time. In fact everything I needed is folder search and then one cut-paste for all of my files. If you had the same problem here is what you need to do in a few simple steps :

Before Start : Let's say that you own a folder at desktop called Music. In that folder you have more sub folders (in this case) they are House, Rock and Rap. All of that sub folders have some .mp3 files which you wish to extract (cut) to central folder Music and then to delete sub folders (see picture).

(click on photo to make it large)

Step 1 : Enter in central folder (in this example Musicthat contains sub folders with files that you wont to extract and then put your mouse point at search on the top - right window (like on the picture belove).

(click on photo to make it large)

Step 2 : In search box write the name of files extension that you want to extract from sub folders. In this case because this sub folders House, Rap and Rock contains only music files you need to write .mp3.

(click on photo to make it large)

Step 3 : The results will show you .mp3 files from all sub folders that you have. Now use Ctrl+A to select all files or your mouse to select just some of them. After that do Right Click - Cut (or Copy in case that you wont only to copy files not to extract them).

(click on photo to make it large)

Step 4 : When you made Cut or Copy simply remove words .mp3 from your Search box and go back to main folder Music. All you need to do after that is Right Click - Paste.

(click on photo to make it large)

Step 5 : Congratulations!  You extract (or copy) all of your files from this three folders (which are now completely empty in case that you use Cut option) to central folder Music.  Now you can delete or save them depends on what you wont to do.

IMPORTANT : This is just an simple example how extraction of files from folders work. Your folders can be otherwise arranged with more or less files in them with different types and extensions.

How to delete themes in Windows 7

How to delete themes in Windows 7 :

The environment of Windows 7 can be really complicated, especially for a new users which are accustomed to the standard environment of Windows XP (I was one of them). One cool thing that I like in Windows 7 for sure is themes which you can manage and change very fast but sometime when you install some of them I was not able or sure how to delete it. Solution for this problem is very easy and you can do that with following next simple steps :

Step 1 : Right click anywhere on your desktop background and from menu which will appear chose Personalize.

(click on photo to make it large)

Step 2 : The window that will appears showing you which themes are currently in use but also and other themes that you already installed on your system.

(click on photo to make it large)

Step 3 : Do right-click on theme that you do not need anymore and then left-click on Delete! If everything is ok your theme will disappear from the menu. If not then you still have other options to eliminate themes which are stock into the system (about this I will talk in some of the next topics).

(click on photo to make it large)

IMPORTANT : Remember that you can only delete themes that are not currently in use on your desktop. Lot of people make a simple mistake with trying to delete current theme but it is not possible. First you need to switch your theme to another one and then to delete it (do the same steps which I already describe up).
